I had to read this book from school at the end of third grade. I really enjoyed it and will gladly recommend as a reading 3- 5 graders

Because of Winn Dixie – by Kate DiCamillo
This is lovely story about a dog named Winn Dixie. He used to be a stray dog who roamed the streets of Florida. But one day he managed to get into a Winn Dixie store. At the time there was a girl that found out that the people who owned the store were going to send him to the pound, so to stop that she said that he was her dog and decided to name him Winn Dixie. That day she came home with a dog instead of what her dad asked her for. When she arrived at her house/trailer she at once asked her dad if she could keep the dog and he said that she could. But problems started forming right away for instance every time they left Winn Dixie would start howling or barking. So they had to take him with them whenever they went somewhere. He proved to be a good dog and was very well behaved. But one day it was time to go to church and dogs are not allowed to go to church but this dog needed to go to church. The dog ended up going to church and he caught a mouse. One day Winn Dixie made the girl meet a person named Otis. Otis ended up giving her a job and it all happened because of Winn Dixie.
